How People are Applying Quadratos

Dr. Stephen J. Terrell - a psychotherapist in Austin Texas - has applied the principles of Quadratos to his work with adoptive children and their parents. He has named this idea, "Parenting to the Power of Four." Take a look at his website - austinattach.com. Notice the four pictures on the homepage, and read his brief article "Parenting to the Power of Four." This information applies to all of us. Thanks, Dr. Terrell.

Send us a note - newsletter@quadratos.com - tell us how you are applying Quadratos. If you have a website, send us a link.

We move from defeat to defeat
until looking backward or ahead,
we see that victory lies
not at some high place
along the way,
but in having made the Journey,
stage by stage.

-- Jewish prayer for Yom Kippur

Welcome

This is the inaugural newsletter for Quadratos. We all have walked across a threshold. Thank you for accompanying Quadratos, visiting the website, signing up for the newsletter - and reading Book I of the Journey.

I believe we are accomplishing something new, and something that has great promise for the spiritual practice of Christianity and for the world. If we can wean ourselves away from fixed positions about God and our own developing hearts - then we have bread and wine for many today.

One example of the promise is seen in Dr. Terrell's work (see left). Another is a pilot project, Quadratos Immersion for Spiritual Leadership - that begins next summer (see below).

We are past the time of seeding. These are the early sprouts.

Another sprout is the release of the Study Guide for Book I, available only through the Quadratos website. We are releasing the Guide now as a PDF for purchase and download. The Guide was written over the past few months by Darcy Wharton and me - along with an able team. Our hope is that you will use the Guide this fall and email us your comments. From what you share, we will re-edit the Guide, and release it again in the winter in both a printed form as well as a PDF.

Now that the first Study Guide is out, I hear the question: "When will Book II be released?" The best estimate is sometime late fall. Everything on this project has taken much longer than I imagined. My hope is that you are able to see the quality and know that I want to release Book II as soon as possible.

If you are in California or Washington State (or even the NYC area) check out my speaking schedule for this fall - Saying hello, signing a book and sharing the message are an honor.

Please keep spreading the word on Quadratos one person at a time.

In the hope and spirit of Jeru-Shalom,

Alexander

Quadratos Immersion for Spiritual Leadership Pilot Project

From July 2007 through May 2008, Dr. Alexander Shaia and Rev. Marjorie Hoyer Smith (along with Sandra Lommasson and Jean Holsten) will work intensively with a small group of persons in spiritual leadership through a series of 6 retreats. Co-sponsored by Bread of Life and Spirit in the Arts, the purpose of this pilot is to create a prototype for denominational and spiritual leaders wanting to tend the Spirit consciously in their particular part of the Body of Christ.

Both content and process are designed to immerse participants in an experience of the 4 spiritual movements which comprise Quadratos. Our time together will integrate learning the framework with practical application in the particular setting of each participant. The design will give participants a working familiarity with the four-fold cycle along with spiritual practices which enable each movement to take root and open to the next for personal and corporate transformation.

APPLICATION PROCESS
For more information and an application please contact Bread of Life at 916-648-1803 or go to the website at
