"Beyond The Biography of Jesus: The Journey of Quadratos, Book I"
Dr. Alexander Shaia's Groundbreaking New Book
Celebration and signing at the Awakening Museum
For Immediate Release (June 12, 2006) - The Awakening Museum is pleased and proud to announce the official Santa Fe celebration and "premiere" of the newly published (and much-awaited) book by noted speaker, spiritual director and psychotherapist Alexander J. Shaia, Ph.D., BEYOND THE BIOGRAPHY OF JESUS: The Journey of Quadatros, Book 1. Dr. Shaia's discoveries about the four gospels are simultaneously traditional and revolutionary, and address the confusion and concerns that have arisen in many people as a result of recent historical findings, and the myriad criticisms, contradictions and suppositions that continue to swirl around the story of early Christianity.
The celebration will take place in the art-filled main room of The Awakening Museum from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 25, 2006. Dr. Shaia will speak at 3:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served. Dr. Shaia will sign books for those who attend, and copies will be available for purchase in the Awakening Museum bookshop. The Museum is located at 125 No. Guadalupe Street, at the corner of Johnson, one block west of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum.
There is an immense dilemma, even a crisis, in Christian churches today and it is shared by most other spiritual traditions - Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam. It is a dilemma of belief, and of trust. This book reveals a revolutionary biblical discovery that directly addresses this critical dilemma. During the first years of the Christian church, early followers not only elevated the traditional four gospels above all the other gospels and writings available, they placed them in a mysterious, non-chronological reading sequence and read them that way for over a thousand years. Dr. Shaia unravels the divine inspiration of this mysterious sequence, and links it to universal, spiritual and anthropological, as well as modern psychological understandings. He demonstrates the value and relevance of this perspective today - in a time that is much more complex than village life millennia ago. He shows why he believes the gospels of Matthew, Mark, John and Luke, the core documents of the Christian faith, can be trusted as revelations of divine truth, despite all of their discrepancies, mistranslations and centuries of abuse and misuse. Dr. Shaia discloses how the gospels in sequence are the map of our never-ending spiritual journey.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama into a Maronite Christian tradition, Shaia holds degrees in cultural anthropology, counseling education, religious education, pastoral psychotherapy and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology, specializing in Jungian Sandplay as developed by Swiss Jungian analyst and Christian-Buddhist practitioner Dora M. Kalff. Shaia was the first American man admitted as a Teaching Member of the International Society of Sandplay Therapy. A resident of Santa Fe, Dr. Shaia speaks and conducts retreats and workshops on Sandplay, ritual, rites of passage, and the Quadratos gospel sequence and Christian spirituality. He is adjucnt faculty at numerous Universities including Southwestern College in Santa Fe and is the creator of the Blue Door Retreat, a place for contemplation and the holding of art as meditation and spiritual practice.
The power of art to uplift, inspire, and enlighten is at the heart of the Awakening Museum. Operated by a not-for-profit foundation established in 2002, the Awakening Museum serves as the permanent home for internationally renowned artist Jean-Claude Gaugy's monumental painting of the same name; a haven where the individual can reflect, meditate and dream; and an active setting for interfaith and intercultural action promoting educational and charitable outreach programs.
